Pumpkin Pie! Pumpkin Lattes! Pumpkin Facials! Pumpkin Peels! Pumpkin Lotions!
This time of year, pumpkin is all the buzz, and it has even made its way into our skin care regimens and local salons. So what’s the big deal about pumpkin? Simply put…. Pumpkin is awesome! So how does a fruit that gets whipped up into a delicious pie or an amazing latte also make its way onto your face during your next facial? I am going to point out a few of my own answers below.
Pumpkin is a Powerful Vitamin Supplier
- Pumpkin is excellent source of Vitamin A. Vitamin A is a powerful exfoliant, and skin softener.
- Pumpkin is an excellent source of Vitamin C. Vitamin C promotes healthy skin function.
Pumpkin is Packed with Fruit Enzymes
- Fruit enzymes literally eat away dead skin build up. “Out with the old in with the new”.
Promotes Hydrated Skin through Dissolving Dry Skin
- The exfoliating, enzymatic activity of pumpkin removes dry skin build up, which makes room for moisturizers to actually moisturize.
Anti-Acne
- Pumpkin contains Vitamin E. Vitamin E is known to reduce inflammation, reduce pore size, control excess oil, which leads to prevention of pimples, blackheads and blemishes.
- Pumpkin contains high amounts of Zinc. Zinc is highly regarded for its ability to assist in skin healing.
I have given a very condensed version of why a pumpkin peel or facial may be a good choice for you. While a pumpkin treatment is a pumpkin treatment, there will always be a slight difference. The difference depends on the actual product being used. If a pumpkin treatment seems to be in your future, determine with the help of your skin care therapist that it is the right treatment for you.
Until next time…Enjoy your pumpkin pies, drink up those pumpkin lattes, and most importantly relax during your pumpkin facial!
